The Queensland Government provides a range of incentives, allowances and subsidies to assist employers in employing an Apprentice or Trainee. Queensland Apprenticeship Services does not manage these incentives.
The State Government may subsidise the cost of the training component, which is delivered by Supervising Registered Training Organisations (SRTOs) (e.g. TAFE or private provider). Funding is available for all eligible Apprenticeships, while targeted funding may be available for specific Traineeships
Payroll Tax Exemptions may be available to employers who enrol their new staff (only) into Apprenticeships or Traineeships
The Youth Training Incentive provides public and private sector employers cash incentives to increase the uptake of School-based Apprentices and Trainees, in rural and remote communities. Eligible employers may attract a subsidy of up to $4,000 (GST Inc.)*. For more information call QAS on 1300 360 955
A reimbursement of up to $300* is available to an Australian Apprentice who is employed in an identified skill shortage industry. The assistance is for the purchase of specialised equipment such as necessary tools and protective equipment (excluding uniforms), where a toll allowance is not traditionally provided by the employer.
Australian Apprentices who have to travel more than 50kms (one-way) to attend courses in relation to their training program may be eligible for a travel and accommodation allowance.
Private Sector employers may be eligible to receive a special incentive payment up to $2,200* for recruiting an additional Australian Apprentice in a specified skill shortage and growth industry occupation.

This fund provides additional financial incentives to employers ($1,750 to $7,000) over and above State and Australian Government incentives, in selected skill shortage areas within the building & construction (and related) industries.
