To become an apprentice or trainee you need to be at least 15 years of age or older, unless you have written evidence of special dispensation granted by a school principal.
In regards to age, there is no maximum working age limit for undertaking apprenticeship or traineeship, with an increasing number of mature age workers now choosing to upgrade their skills and knowledge through an apprenticeship or traineeship qualification.
Some apprenticeships and traineeships require a minimum standard of education, which can vary between different training programmes. If you don't meet these minimum standards, you may still be allowed to enter into the apprenticeship or traineeship following an assessment by the Queensland Department of Employment and Training (DETA).
