Privacy Policy

PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

Queensland Apprenticeship Services (QAS) is committed to providing our clients with the highest levels of customer service. This includes protecting your privacy.

Although QAS is required to comply with the provisions of the Privacy Amendment Act 2000 from 21 December 2001, it was previously contractually bound to protect the privacy of your personal information under the Privacy Act 1998. As such QAS has developed a Privacy Policy Statement which is available here. In addition we wish to provide the following information to all our clients.

How we use your personal information?

QAS delivers services to employers, Australian Apprentices, and other intermediaries under a Australian Apprenticeships Support Services Contract with the Department of Education, Science and Training. As such the personal information collected from our clients is used in the management of the Australian Apprenticeship Agreement.

Your personal information?

Personal information held by QAS is determined by the information required to be completed on both Commonwealth and State Government forms. If you choose not to provide personal information as required by the Government forms, we may not be able to register your agreement or process your claims or requests.

How long do we hold your personal information?

The period for which your personal information is kept by QAS is determined by statutory periods, dictated by Commonwealth and State Government requirements.

Who can access your personal information?

Your personal information may be accessed by QAS staff but may be disclosed to organisations outside QAS such as the Commonwealth and State Government Departments, which administer the Australian Apprenticeship system. Parties to the training contract are also able to access their personal information. No other organisations are permitted access to your personal information unless you have otherwise agreed to such access.

How can you help to ensure the information is accurate?

QAS takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. However, the accuracy of that information depends to a large extent on the information you provide. If your personal details change can you please contact your local QAS office to update our records.

How can you access your personal information?

You have a right to access your personal information subject to some exceptions allowed by law. If you would like to access your personal information please forward your written request to the Customer Service Manager at PO Box 2263, Fortitude Valley BC, QLD 4006.

PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

Queensland Apprenticeship Services (QAS) acknowledges and respects the privacy of individuals.

We advise that the information that you provide to QAS on the Commonwealth and State Government forms is "personal information" as defined by the Privacy Amendment Act 2000 (the "Act").

This information is being collected for the purposes of administering the Australian Apprenticeship system by processing your registration, keeping you informed of your obligations and assisting us in improving our service to you. The intended recipients of the information are the Commonwealth Department of Employment Science and Training and the Queensland Department of Education and Training.

The provision of information is voluntary, but if this information is not provided, QAS will not be able to process your training contract , amendment or claim applications.

You have a right of access to, and the alteration of, personal information concerning yourself in accordance with the Act. The information is being collected by QAS and will be held by QAS for the purposes for which it was collected. Please direct any enquiries you may have in relation to this matter to our Privacy Officer or Customer Service Manager.
