Queensland Apprenticeship Services is committed to supporting and encouraging high achievement and standards among Australian apprentices, trainees and their employers.

Nominations are now open for 2 prestigious awards, the Queensland Training Awards and the Minister’s Awards for Excellence for Employers of Australian Apprentices.

Place your nominations for either or both of these awards through QAS & you’ll be in the draw to win even more prizes!

One draw for employers, one draw for apprentices, each with the chance to win either an 8GB Apple iPod Nano or an Accor GiftPlus card valued at $275.

Queensland Training Awards 2008

Nominations are now open for the 2008 Queensland Training Awards (QTA). Presented by the State Government, the awards acknowledge excellence in vocational training and education, honouring Queensland's top apprentices, trainees and vocational students, training providers and employers


Queensland Training Awards There are 7 Regional categories to
nominate for:
  • Employer of the Year
  • Small Employer of the Year
  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Trainee of the Year
  • Vocational Student of the Year
  • School-based Apprentice or Trainee
    of the Year
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait
    Islander Student of the Year

Regional winners will then contend for the state title, with a chance of an additional 4 categories that are only at state level:
  • Public Training Provider of the Year
  • Private Training Organisation of the Year
  • Skilling for the Future Award
  • Premier's Innovation in Skilling Award

  • Individual regional winners will receive $500, Individual state winners will receive $1,000 plus a computer and a return flight overseas

The Minister’s Awards for Excellence for Employers of Australian Apprentices

The Australian Government’s Minister’s Awards commend employers who display dedication to excellence in employment and training of Australian Apprentices.


Ministers Awards 2008


Nominations for 2008 are now open to employers who employ and train Australian Apprentices. Everyone is encouraged to apply, regardless whether they are a small, medium, large or corporate organisation.

Nominees are required to provide evidence of:
  • Their planned approach to supporting Australian Apprentices in the workplace;
  • The flexibility they demonstrate in delivering training;
  • The success they have achieved in implementing Australian Apprenticeships; and
  • How they deliver training of EXCELLENCE to their Australian Apprentices
Why Enter?

  • Winners from 22 regions across Australia will receive $5,000 cash, a certificate and an invitation to a gala presentation dinner to receive their award
  • Winning this prestigious award will raise your business profile

* To be entered in the draw for the iPod Nano or Accor GiftPlus card, nominations for both awards must be lodged through QAS by the dates specified below.
  • Nominations for Queensland Training Awards Employer category must be submitted to a QAS staff member by 3pm Wednesday, 12 March 2008 for lodgement with the State Government
  • Individual nominations for Queensland Training Awards must be submitted to a QAS staff member by 3pm Wednesday, 19 March 2008 for lodgement with the State Government
  • Nominations for the Minister's Awards must be submitted to a QAS staff member by 3pm Friday, 11 April 2008 for lodgement with the Australian Government
QAS will be drawing the the Accor GiftPlus card or iPod Nano winners on Tuesday, 29 April 2008. Unfortunately lodgement of applications for the awards directly through the State or Australian Government will leave you ineligible for the QAS draw.
