Construction training for 50 Indigenous workers

The ‘Construction is the Future’ program has provided the opportunity for 50 Indigenous jobseekers from Darwin to undertake a traineeship.

The participants will complete a Certificate II training course in General or Civil Construction.

“With Australia’s current skill shortage 50 new highly trained job seekers will be a welcome addition to the construction industry,” said Minister for Employment Participation, Mark Arbib.

Industry Services Australia will train and provide mentoring and post-placement support under the Indigenous Employment Program. >Read more


A successful outcome for the Kickstart Bonus

The Kickstart Bonus saw the signing of 22,049 apprentices across Australia.

The incentive was introduced by the Australian Government in December 2009, in response to apprentice commencements falling due to the Global Financial Crisis. >Read more

WorldSkills Australia National Competition

From Friday, 7 May to Sunday 9 May 2010 the WorldSkills Australia National competition will be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The free public event will consist of the National Careers and Employment Expo and over 500 competitors in up to 50 trade and skill categories. >Read more
