QAS mentoring event in Townsville

More than 120 Townsville employers joined QAS at Dairy Farmers Stadium on 29 November to discuss apprentice completion rates and how to improve apprentice engagement.

The afternoon was hosted by Marthisa Andrews, Regional Manager North Queensland for QAS, and guest speakers included psychologist Danielle Buckley and local employer, Peter Harris from Ergon Energy.

Employers heard about the stereotypical differences between Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y and discussed ways to bridge the gap to create effective working relationships.  Danielle also shared her experiences in working with employers and apprentices and some of the best practice techniques for inducting, coaching and mentoring them to success.

This was followed by a presentation from Peter Harris of Ergon Energy about they’re doing to achieve an impressive apprentice completion rate in their business.
