Tully business back on track and committed to up-skilling its staff

Release Date

02 February 2012

The devastating effects of Cyclone Yasi which tore through Tully in early February 2011 remains a powerful memory to most of the town, including Aussie (John) Redgate of Ausjoy Catering.

Like many in the area, he’s spent the past year rebuilding his premises and business, which was under two feet of water after the cyclone decimated most of the town.

But as a sure sign that things are looking up, Aussie has now turned his attention to expanding his catering business which services a wide range of clientele as well as business functions.

Ausjoy-Catering-Tully.jpgThis includes providing training for his loyal staff, and the recent sign up of Rasim Shahmuradov as an apprentice is a first for the business. Rasim worked for Aussie part-time after gaining his Australian residency and after witnessing his commitment to hard work Aussie worked with Queensland Apprenticeship Services (QAS) to have him signed up full-time in an Australian Apprenticeship.

Rasim is studying a Certificate 3 in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) with Outcomes the Training People providing training on site in Aussie’s business.

Congratulations from the QAS team to Aussie and Rasim for taking up the opportunity, which not only represents a step forward for Ausjoy Catering but also for the strength of the Tully economy and business community.
